Wood and other materials derived from plants or animals were the first fuels used by man to light a fire to warm up and cook.

The main reason that motivated, the first companies to built closed  fireplaces, was to ensure the avoidance of unpleasant consequences that brought the lack of door, such as ashes and sparks on the floor and carpets, which increase the risk of fire.
